4.7 Keeping computer network data confidential and secure

User IDs

User IDs lets you connect together a given user’s data collected from multiple devices and multiple browsers. Every Time you log in the network check if the user id exist or not.

 

Password

Most computer systems will allow you to log on with only a user ID, as there is not very secure. Password is use to access website when after you have enter it the network also checked the password that is it correct or not. If it is correct it would let you enter the website.

  • A password such as pet’s name or part of your home address is week and not secure.
  • A password such as ?5f!1hai/. would be harder to remember but much more secure or strong.

Mostly some of the easy password are :

  • 1234567890
  • Admin
  • password
  • coldcave89

Keepin

Most of the secure and complex need to have:
  • at least 15 characters
  • uppercase letters
  • lowercase letters
  • numbers
  • symbols, such as ! ^ * &% ^$ > ? >/
A strong password is not:
  • your login or username
  • your name, your friend’s name, your family member’s name, or a common name
  • a dictionary word
  • like your previous passwords
  • your date of birth
  • a keyboard pattern, such as qwerty, asdfghjkl, or 12345678

Keeping your data confidential

Think about a supermarket’s loyalty cards. These are cards that allow the customers to keep track of there record with the store  when u buy things also sometime it can give you discount.
