4.3 The internet and intranets
The internet is an international network of computers that allows users to use email, browse the World Wide Web or to chat either by text or by voice.

Lots of webpages that are linked together by hyperlinks. Clicking on the hyperlink allows user to navigate between webpages in the website. They also allow you to move to other website. |
Intranets
Large organisations with lots of electronic material, that needs to be accessed by staff, often use an intranet. In the same way as the internet, an intranet allows users to access web-base material, share files and send email but all communication and data transfer is confined to the local networks.
